This website
- The pages of this website use no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The browser game is different: see The game below.
- No requests to other companies. The fonts and images are served from this site.
- If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your own browser under the name fareline.theme. It is never sent to us.
- Our hosting provider records technical data when a page is loaded: IP address, time, the page asked for and the browser type. It is used to keep the site running and secure, and kept only for a limited time. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working and secure site.
If you email us
We use your address and message to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed for that.
The game
This part covers FARELINE on Google Play and the browser game on fareline.live. Both are the same game and store the same things. Only the app shows ads. Adealsweden AB is the controller. Write to privacy@fareline.live with any question about your data.
Your player id, and signing in if you choose
You never need an account to play. The first time the game goes online, Google Firebase signs it in without any name and gives it a random player id. The player id holds no name, email address or phone number. Firebase keeps that sign-in in the app's or the browser's storage, so the game keeps the same player id next time.
In Settings you can choose SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE, so your progress follows you to other devices. Google Firebase then also keeps the email address, name and profile picture link of your Google account with your player id. The game shows only the email address. On a device where you have played before, signing in adds that device's progress to your account. Its feedback moves to your account. Its board entries, run logs, daily count lines and old player id are removed the same way DELETE MY DATA removes them, and the old player id may stay on Firebase's sign-in list until we remove it (see below). SIGN OUT keeps your progress with your sign-in and starts the device again with a new player id. Legal basis: contract.
The questions the game asks
- Help balance the game. At the first start the game asks whether it may save how you play, like your choices, results and time per quarter. This is the Share gameplay data switch in Settings. It stays off until you answer YES, HELP, and you can turn it off any time. Someone else who plays on the same device with another player id is asked again.
- Ads, in the app. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks whether ads may be personalised before any ad loads. See Ads below.
On your device
Your settings, scores, pilot totals, achievements, MILES, Hangar items, airline name and emblem, home country, a random device id, a list of your saved runs, your Share gameplay data answer, a code made from the player id that gave it, the list of board rows you reported (so a row is reported only once from this device), whether the sign-in offer was shown, the player id of your Google sign-in, and the player ids of a sign-in still finishing. They stay on the device until you delete them: with DELETE MY DATA (see below), by clearing the app's data or the site's data in your browser, or by uninstalling the app.
What we store online, and why
- Board entries. When a ranked or Daily run ends, it posts an entry to the boards: your score, hub, airline name, code and emblem, any name plate you wear, your home country if you set one, the date, the device id and your player id. Everyone who plays can see the boards. Why: to run the boards you play for. Legal basis: contract.
- Run logs. Ranked and Daily runs keep a short log so the score can be checked: the seed, your opening, your choices and the result of each quarter, and how the run ended. Other players can open it from the boards. Why: fair boards. Legal basis: contract and our legitimate interest in fair boards.
- The daily count. Every run adds one line to a count for its day: the run id, game version, mode, level and variant, hub and its grade, your opening, quarters played and how far you got, how the run ended and why, revenue, time played, its weight in the count, whether its log was kept, your Share gameplay data choice and the time. No player id. With Share gameplay data off, a random code made for that run takes the place of the run id, and the line leaves out the hub and its grade, revenue, time played and the time of day, so it cannot reasonably be matched to you. Why: to see how runs go overall and keep the game balanced. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Your private save. Achievements, MILES history, Hangar items, best scores, home country, the levels you have opened and your list of saved runs, kept under your player id. Only you can read it. Why: to keep your progress safe. Legal basis: contract.
- Your sign-in, only if you sign in. The email address, name and profile picture link of your Google account and the times you signed in, kept by Google Firebase Authentication with your player id. Only you and we can see the email address. Why: to keep your progress and player id on every device where you sign in. Legal basis: contract.
- Feedback, only when you send it. Your message, its category and star rating, device type, screen size, language, recent error lines and, if you attach it, the run. It is kept under your player id. Only you and we can read it. Why: to read what you report and fix it. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Name reports, only when you send one. If you report a name, we store the name and its code, the board, the row it is on and the time. We store nothing about who reported it. Why: to keep offensive names off the boards. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- The list of hidden names. When we hide a name that breaks the rules, we keep its row id and the time on a list, so every board shows a generated name in its place. Anyone who plays can read this list. Why: to keep offensive names off the boards. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Only with Share gameplay data on. The log of every run, Freeplay too, with more in it: the cards you were dealt, your prices and shop visits, the time per quarter, device type, screen size and language, a code made from your player id, a random install id and visit counts (visits, days since your first visit, runs today). Why: to balance the game and fix bugs. Legal basis: your consent. Turning it off stops it from then on.
- Short board locks. While the game updates a board, it holds a lock on that board for a few seconds, so two players finishing at once do not overwrite each other. The lock holds a random code made for that session of the game, not your device id or your player id.
Where it is kept
What the game stores online is kept in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), in Google data centres in the European Union (the eur3 location: Belgium and the Netherlands). Google processes it for us under the Firebase data processing terms. Google may reach it from other countries for support and security. Such transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. When the game connects, Firebase also sees your IP address, which it uses to deliver the data and to stop abuse.
Ads
The app is free and shows one full-screen ad a game year, when you leave the shop after the boss quarter, or one quarter earlier in a run's last year and any year after it. Ads do not change anything in a run, a score or what you earn.
The browser game on fareline.live shows no ads. If that changes, this page will say so first.
- In the app the ads come from Google AdMob. AdMob collects your device's advertising ID and app set ID, your IP address (from which it estimates a rough location), details of the device and the app, which ads were shown and tapped, and performance data.
- Your choice. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you see Google's consent message before any ad loads. If you say no, you still see ads, but Google does not choose them from what it knows about you and uses the data only for limited purposes such as counting ads, limiting how often you see one and stopping fraud. You can change your choice any time with AD CHOICES in the game's Settings.
- Google's part. Google decides how it uses this data for ads, under its own privacy policy: how Google uses information from apps and sites that use its services. Google may process it outside the EU, under the same transfer safeguards as above.
- On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in the phone's settings (Privacy, then Ads, or Google, then Ads).
- Legal basis: your consent for personalised ads and for storing or reading the advertising ID where the law asks for it, and our legitimate interest in paying for a free game for the rest.
How long we keep it
- Run logs: up to 12 months, then only totals without ids. Newer runs also take over old run slots, so most logs go much sooner.
- The daily count: kept for balance history. It has no player id.
- Feedback: until we have dealt with it, plus 12 months. Never more than 24 months.
- Name reports: deleted once we have reviewed them. A report older than 12 months is deleted the next time we open the list of reports.
- The list of hidden names: each row id and time for up to 13 months, at most 4000 rows. Older entries stop counting at once and are removed from the list the next time we open the game.
- Board entries: while their season is shown, plus 12 months.
- Your private save, your player id and the data on your device: until you delete them.
- After DELETE MY DATA, your old player id may stay on Google Firebase's sign-in list, with nothing attached to it, until we remove it. See Delete your FARELINE account and data.
- Board locks: until the next update of that board replaces them. They hold no id of yours.
- Your sign-in and its email address: until you delete your data. Signing out does not delete it.
- Ad data: Google keeps it under Google's own rules.
Your choices and rights
- See your data: in Settings, PRIVACY, then EXPORT MY DATA saves everything we hold about you in one file.
- Delete it: see Delete your FARELINE account and data below.
- Sign out: SIGN OUT in Settings. Your progress stays with your sign-in, and this device starts again with a new player id.
- Withdraw consent: turn off Share gameplay data in Settings, or change your ad choice with AD CHOICES there. It stops from then on.
- Correct, limit, object, move your data, or ask anything: write to privacy@fareline.live. We answer within one month.
- Complain: to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se, or the data protection authority where you live.
Children
FARELINE is made for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has sent us data, write to us and we delete it.
Delete your FARELINE account and data
For the FARELINE app on Google Play and the browser game on fareline.live, by Adealsweden AB. There are two ways.
- In the game, with DELETE MY DATA. Open Settings, then PRIVACY, then DELETE MY DATA. If you signed in, Settings also has DELETE MY ACCOUNT, which opens the same window. It removes your feedback, run logs, board entries, your lines in the daily count and your private save, clears the list of board rows you reported on this device, then gives the game a new player id. If you signed in, it also deletes your sign-in and its email address. You confirm with Google first. Tick REMOVE MY PROGRESS ON THIS DEVICE TOO to clear your MILES, achievements, Hangar items, scores and pilot totals on the device as well. If you played on more than one device, do it on each one, or progress kept there can be posted again. If a part could not be reached, the game lists what is left. Open DELETE MY DATA again later to finish.
- By email. If you no longer have the game, write to privacy@fareline.live with the subject "Delete my data". Tell us the email address you signed in with, or your airline name and code and roughly when you played. If you can, attach the file from EXPORT MY DATA, which holds your player id. We delete the same data within one month and write back when it is done.
Your old player id
Google Firebase lets the game delete a player id only shortly after it signed in. Most of the time DELETE MY DATA can therefore only stop using your old player id: it holds none of your data any more and the device no longer uses it, but it may stay on Google Firebase's sign-in list. The game tells you when this happens and shows the old id. Write to privacy@fareline.live with that id, or with the file from EXPORT MY DATA, and we remove it within one month. A sign-in with Google is never left behind this way: the game deletes it after you confirm with Google.
Uninstalling the app removes what is on the device, but not what is stored online. After a deletion we keep nothing about you, apart from your email to us for as long as we need it to answer, and an old player id on Firebase's sign-in list until we remove it as described above. To stop ads using your advertising ID, reset or delete it in your phone's settings.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, limit or object to its use, and receive it in a portable form. Write to privacy@fareline.live. You may also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.
